The Red Monster trail race (25k and 50M)
Sat, Nov 14 7:30 AM
Slade, KY
Get ready to test your limits in the heart of the Red River Gorge at "The Red Monster," known as one of the toughest trail challenges The Red has to offer. Taking place near Natural Bridge State Resort Park, this grueling race features a looped course starting near pavilions 3 and 4 across from Whittleton Campground, pushing runners up the Sheltowee Trace trail to the Gray's Arch aid station. Participants can choose between a single loop 25k route or a demanding 4 loop 50 mile option. Both races kick off bright and early at 7:30 AM EST on November 14, 2026, so be sure to bring your trekking poles, climbing legs, and determination for an unforgettable trail running experience.
Beyond the challenge on the trail, the event offers full support to help you go the distance while giving back to the local community. Fifty mile runners have continuous access to drop bags at the Gray's Arch aid station, and pacers are permitted to join after the second loop (around mile 25) to help guide you through the finish. The race proudly partners with the Powell and Wolfe County Search and Rescue teams, directing donations to support their critical volunteer rescue efforts. Whether you are aiming to conquer the course or looking to earn race credits and shirts by volunteering, this event promises a community driven adventure for every trail enthusiast.
